ABSTRACT
Summary: The aim of the presented material is to present the factors influencing the way disinformation is created during the "Russian military special operation". Unfortunately, the current nature of the studied phenomenon has not yet been published in comprehensive monographic studies. It should be noted that due to the ongoing conflict, the research results will be supplemented by further information and scientific knowledge obtained on their basis. The fundamental problem - what are the basic contents of the narrative used in the disinformation process during the Russian-Ukrainian war? - presented in three aspects: (1) the basic content of Russian disinformation during the period of destabilization of the situation in Ukraine, (2) information content constituting the components of Russian disinformation after the start of aggression against Ukraine, (3) narrative axes dominant in the process of Russian disinformation in Poland. The research process made it possible to identify features characteristic of the selection of Russian narratives during the ongoing war. The presented material mainly uses the method of critical analysis, as well as the methods of induction, deduction and synthesis. In obtaining empirical material, the conclusions and experiences provided by Ukrainian Armed Forces officers during seminars and conferences organized at the organized by the War Studies University were also used. Purpose and research methods: The aim of the research, the results of which are presented in this article, were issues related to the way in which the Russian Federation conducts disinformation in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Cognitive results obtained by critical analysis of the obtained source material (articles, reports, monographs). Moreover, the research process used the following methods: induction, deduction and synthesis, which, in relation to the issues raised, allowed for the formulation of final conclusions. Conclusions / recommendations: One of the main goals of Russian disinformation remains to present the invasion of Ukraine as the result of a game by Western powers. Russia promotes the narrative that the United States provoked Russia by expanding NATO into eastern Europe to take actions to secure Russian security in the military sphere. Additionally, the adopted narrative helps present Russia as an object of negative influence from Western countries. Due to the situation, Russia had to take defensive measures not only diplomatically, but also militarily.
